Regional and International Organizations

Regional and international NGOs play a huge role in the education system in Haiti. Of the 15,200 primary schools, 90% are non-public and managed by religious organizations, NGOs, and communities.

These initiatives focus on:
improving quality of schooling
promoting parental involvement
strengthening Haitian NGOs active in education
in 2004, USAID partnered with Save the Children, Fondation Haïtienne de l'Enseignement Privé (FONHEP), and the Education Development Center to finance and implement community school programs.

World Bank
Education For All
The World Bank and the Haitian government are collaborating to provide subsidies for tuition and increasing the number of teachers in the school systems.
