My other interests include a thirst for knowledge through travel and outdoor adventure, as well as helping others improve their overall health and well-being

Reading Intervention Tutor

Palm Springs Elementary (Sep 2017- present)

  • Serves as a reading tutor to 40 students using LLI (Leveled Literacy Intervention) 

  • Works with multiple groups of second language learners, and focuses on building English language skills

  • Empowered 18 2nd grade students with knowledge of all subjects

  • Incorporated Semester at Sea Vicarious Voyage Program to expose students to different countries and cultures through a traveling college student who connected to the classroom

Live Healthy Kids Program Coordinator

Live Healthy Appalachia Marietta College (Oct 2012 - May 2013) 

 

  • Planned and delivered program as first coordinator, which included hiring and supervision of “Food Educators,” and recruitment of volunteers

  • Promoted health and wellness among children in elementary school through experiential learning lessons

  • Evaluated success of program through pre and post-surveys, and offered recommendations for program improvement

  • Expanded program from 10-20 classrooms for the following year 

 

Summer Nutrition Program Associate

  • Served as site supervisor for lunch feeding program to assist low-income families

  • Assisted with evaluation of program through attendance tracking and testimonial gathering
